Simeon Stafford (1956- )

Born in Duckinfield, a small town bordering the Pennines.
After winning the Robert Owen School for Art and the Manchester News Portrait Award, he was introduced to LS Lowry, who became a friend of the family and encouraged Stafford to study art.
After studying art at the Hyde College, he became a professional artist in 1974 and exhibited his work in London and throughout the north of England.
In 1996 he moved to Cornwall where he met Terry Frost and Patrick Heron both of whom had a great impact on him.
He continues to have successful exhibitions in London and Cornwall, and in 2001 his work was included in the RA Summer exhibition. His work can be seen as the confluence of Lowry’s simple and naive approach coupled with the vibrancy and jocularity of the Cornish artists. Private collections include the Queen and Tony Blair. His work is also featured on the BBC ‘Your Paintings’ website.
