Marcus Adams 1875-1959

Born in Reading and attended Reading Art College where he began to develop his skills as a draughtsman and designer. He is well known for his portraits of the Royal Family, many now held by the National Portrait Gallery.
Whilst he started to gain a reputation for his photographic portraits for which he would become famous, he continued his artistic education by studying in Paris and travelling the globe. His works include a very large number of graphite drawings depicting Switzerland, Majorca, Italy and another Africa and various idyllic scenes around England.
He exhibited his paintings in St Ives and the Reading Guild of Artists.
