Cecil ‘Mogs’ Elgee 1904-1984

A Devon artist and book illustrator, she became a resident of Budleigh Salterton. At 18 she joined her parents in India and studied at the Bombay School of Art. She returned to Budleigh in 1927 and attended the Exeter School of Art. She became well known as a painter of animals.
She is also well regarded for her illustrations in Costumes and Characters in the Days of the British Raj, published by Webb and Bowen.
